Star Vs The Forces of Evil

Well I've decided to write about some of the shows I've seen this year that have been popular and very highly praised to see if they live up to the hype.

This time it's Star Vs The Forces of Evil.

This is a show that concerned me because my brother and sister watched a bit of it and they thought it was weird so I didn't know what to expect.

What I got as fun, I'll admit it's not as engaging as Gravity Falls or dark as Over the Garden Wall but it's a very fun show.

The show centers around, get this, a magical princess from another dimension who came to earth and befriends a human while fighting monsters.

It's a pretty weird and cliche setup but what sets it apart is characters and the stories. Princess Star Butterfly from Mewni is recently given with the royal family heirloom, the royal magic wand, but since she can't control it and that she set the whole kingdom on fire within a day, she is sent to live with the Diazes on Earth to train her magic.

Star Butterfly is an interesting character, she seems like someone who could get on my nerves very quickly, for some people I guess she has, but I like the fact that she isn't an idiot, she's just a naive girl in a whole new world.

She's wild, she's curious, she's bubbly and she's over the top, but she knows when to be serious. Her magic pretty much allows her to do anything she wants if she knows how to do it.

She also has dimensional scissors which allows her to travel to anywhere in any dimension, which leads to many problems.

She may be a princess but enjoys beating the crap out of monsters alongside her best friend on Earth, Marcos Diaz, which is a good thing seeing how her wand makes her a target.

Marco Ubaldo Diaz is Star's first and best friend on Earth. He's the everyday teenage boy who gets roped into the magical wacky world of Mewni. At first, Marco didn't take Star's magic very well, but after warming to her magic, the monsters and the excitement in his life that he'll be getting, they get along very well. Although he has his own quirks, he's very careful and considerate to his friends and family, but he enjoys kicking monster butt just as much as Star does.

The best part about Marco is that he isn't a liability, Star doesn't always need to save him, he can defend and fight for himself fairly well with his karate skills.

Sometimes he even saves her through other less magical ways, like through psychology and through guidance.

The stories range from fun to intense depending on the episode itself, this is that kind of show, one episode can be about shopping for banana ice cream device to Star going through her version of puberty.

The side characters are also very fun to be around, I love how accepting Mr and Mrs Diaz are to most of the weirdness, even when Marco himself is freaking out.

Star's other best friend, Princess PonyHead talks like a stereotypical black girl if that even makes sense, either way, she's a ton of fun to be around.

All the villains are also insanely memorable, Lupo and his minions are funny, they're relentless when it comes to getting the wand even if they're not really good at it.

The friendship between the two is one of the show's biggest driving force. They are as close as best friends can get and they need each other in a sense,

Star needs Marco to keep her wild side in check and to teach her about Earth culture

while Marco needs Star to liven up his life and to bring up his confidence around his crush, Jackie Lynn Thomas.

They need each other's support and they fight for each other, but they both don't like being a burden to each other either, Marco didn't like how often Star helps him more than he helps her and Star doesn't like it when Marco doubts her.

With season 2 coming up next year, something tells me that Star won't be moving back to Mewni anytime soon.

That's all for what I think about this show. To me, it's like soda. It's bubbly, flavorful and you want more of it. Feel free to voice your opinions below

See you next time.
